Craven 4-H Teens Make Poultry Nationals
Connor Howard, Matthew Peluso, and Elizabeth Peluso have been invited to compete at the 4-H Poultry Judging National Competition in Louisville, KY in November. The 3 teens have been judging for 6 years and have been working hard to qualify for the National Competition. They are looking forward to representing North Carolina at this prestigious National event!
New 4-H Club Starting in Cove City!
Craven 4-H is excited to have a new 4-H Club starting in Cove City! The Cove Explorers 4-H Club will be meeting at the Cove City Library and learning a wide variety of projects! Led by Miranda Matthews and Escarlette Zamora, the club got their first meeting started with a service project planting flowers and putting in a flower bed at the Library.

PACE Scholars begin Website Design Program
The Peletah Academic Center for Excellence has been working with 4-H since the school began about 7 years ago. Scholars have participated in a wide variety of curriculum and projects from Poultry to Presentations and from Gardening to Filmmaking. This year, they embark on a project to learn how to design their own websites through this in-school program for scholars in grades 4-12. We can’t wait to see the amazing sites they will design!
Sewing at the Library
Youth at the Cove City Library have been sewing for quite a while now and with the return of fall programming, they are ready to create new and amazing projects! They already they have created scented rice bags that can be microwaved and used as stress-relievers! Always up for a new challenge, they are starting an embroidery project where youth will learn how to make detailed stitches and create amazing art!
Craven-Pamlico Sewing
Youth in the Craven-Pamlico Sewing program (that meets at the Pamlico Extension Office) have gotten off to a great start with a project that they finished in one 2-hour period! Youth cut out, stitched and created their own unique needle books that will be able to hold any needles or pins they use for their future projects. We are excited to see the next things they will create!

We get a lot of questions about our 4-H Livestock Class and the opportunities for youth to participate. If you would like to see how you and your youth can join us for this class taught by Livestock Agent Brooke Zeleny and 4-H Agent Ashley Brooks. 4-H Aire Program
It’s not too late to sign-up! AIRE (Application, Resume, Interview, and Electronic Video) is a workforce development and college prep program. Youth, ages 11 – 18, are eligible to participate and have two options – either competitive or non-competitive. Those ages 11-13 must do non-competitive but are eligible to participate in the interview process at the State 4-H AIRE program. Would you be Interested in Joining a 4-H Dog Club?
We have someone interested in starting a 4-H Dog Club where youth would learn how to train their dogs and potentially learn how to show. If this is something you would like to see, PLEASE let the 4-H Agent know!
