Collapse ▲Western North Carolina has been devastated by Hurricane Helene. NC Extension staff meet daily via Zoom for updates. To date, with 3-4 feet of clay and debris covering much of the impacted area, there is little knowledge of actual damage to crops, businesses or structures. Travel is limited since much of the area is covered with up to 3-4 feet of clay and debris. Too road are still impassable. As such, there is little we can do in Eastern NC physically to assist. At the moment. Regrettably, recovery for those impacted will take a very long time.
Those interested in updates or means to help should visit the NC Extension Disaster website. This site is routinely update with new information regarding the impacted area and their needs. Too, the website provides locations where desired items can be delivered as well as names of potential organization for donations.
