Calling all high school students who are passionate about science and poultry and are seeking a dynamic virtual summer experience. Please join our faculty from the Prestage Department of Poultry Science who represent disciplines of science from embryology to immunology!
Come collaborate with your colleagues in Poultry Science! Registration just $75.
The Poultry Science Summer Institute will be June 26-30, 2022 and is sponsored by NC State University and North Carolina Cooperative Extension 4-H Youth Program with the Prestage Department of Poultry Science.
High school-aged youth (rising sophomores, juniors and seniors) are invited to apply to this in-person, hands-on, dynamic poultry science experience which will have youth staying at University Towers on campus.
Youth will have learning opportunities with a faculty lead from the many disciplines of poultry science including anatomy, hatchery management, incubation and embryology, egg quality, processing, turkey rearing, immunology, feed milling, and poultry veterinary medicine.
Tours of NC State campus farms, feedmill, and other iconic stops along campus will be provided. Also, PSSI students will have an opportunity to talk with an upcoming, current, and alumni of the NC State Poultry Science program.
Through this summer program, youth will also be introduced to the dynamic career opportunities within the poultry industry and to opportunities within the university to pursue an education in poultry science.
Students will be provided a camp T-shirt, swag, materials, and fun, poultry-themed snacks! The cost of the institute is kept low at $75 per student thanks to the generous subsidy by US Poultry & Egg Association. All materials will be provided.
Applications are due by Feb 28, 2022.
Notification of acceptance will be announced by March 28, 2022.
