It's Electric! 2026

The Craven & Pamlico 4-H It’s Electric! program is an exciting hands-on opportunity for youth to explore the fundamentals of electricity, circuitry, and STEM concepts in a fun and engaging way. Designed for 4-H members of all experience levels, this program invites young learners to build, experiment, and discover how electrical systems work through interactive activities, challenges, and real-world applications.

Why It’s Important

In today’s world, understanding science and technology is more valuable than ever. It’s Electric! helps youth:

  • Develop critical thinking and problem-solving skills

  • Build confidence through design and experimentation

  • Strengthen teamwork and communication by collaborating with peers

  • See real-life applications of science and engineering

By working with circuits, components, and tools in a safe and supportive environment, participants gain not only technical knowledge but also the enthusiasm to pursue further learning in STEM fields.

What to Expect

Participants in It’s Electric! will:

  • Learn about basic electrical concepts like current, voltage, resistance, and conductors

  • Build simple circuits and explore how electricity flows

  • Use hands-on kits and materials to complete fun projects

  • Work individually and in groups to solve challenges and present results

No prior experience is necessary—just curiosity and a willingness to learn!
