The first three images below show examples of "drainage ditches". These ditches help to move surface water away from homes and businesses and reduce the risk of flooding during major storms. Surprisingly, drainage ditches and culverts don't function properly when cluttered with roadside litter.
If you have a psychological need to litter, there are alternatives. The fourth image shows a "trash can". Studies show that littering directly into a trash can provides the same power trip as littering from the window of a moving vehicle. And your own neighborhood won't be degraded in the process. Perfect!
