America’s Farmers Grow Communities, a Bayer Fund program, partners with farmers to provide grants to local nonprofits to help their communities. Farmers enroll for the chance to direct a $5,000 donation to a local eligible nonprofit organization of their choice. Since 2010, over $65 million has been donated to rural America. This year’s recipient, Adam & Miranda Matthews of Cove City, North Carolina, recently allocated $5,000 Bayer Fund America’s Farmers Grow Communities donation to Craven County 4-H.
Craven County 4-H, is administered by N.C. Cooperative Extension of Craven County. 4-H is the largest youth development organization in North Carolina. It serves to educate young people each year growing the next generation of leaders and equipping youth with the skills to succeed. 4‑H provides experiences where youth “learn by doing” giving them a voice and goals to make their lives and communities better.
Craven 4-H will use the funds to provide program supplies and equipment for our clubs and programs including, but not limited to, our poultry program, special interest clubs, sewing groups, gardening programs, livestock programs, leadership and professional development programs. Greater funding allows more youth to attend each program and keeps costs of programs to a minimum so that more youth have access to attend.
