A Tempest Weather Station has been installed at the N.C. Cooperative Extension, Craven County Center. The unit will automatically record weather data and relay it to a hub within the office. Data is posted on the Tempest Weather App. Daily, Hourly and 10-Day forecasts will display by default. Selecting the weather station icon on the upper right will display additional data such as barometric pressure, wind speed, rainfall data, dew point, solar radiation and more. Selecting the “History” icon near the upper center will display additional data such as relative humidity, lightning strikes, UV index and more. If preferred, the data can be viewed at the Weather Underground's website,
This type of unit uses data collected at the site along with other weather stations to constantly adjust forecasts. Since the unit is connected to a hub and internet, should either the internet connection or electricity fail, current data will not be available. However, the unit is solar-powered and will continue to collect data. When the internet and/or electrical current is restored, it will download the data to the hub and post it to the web page.
For those near this station, utilize this source of information as a more local forecast to make plans. If you find it helpful, please let us know. If other information is needed, alert of this too. Perhaps the data needed can be added.
