  1. A 4-H’er is defined as any youth involved in at least twelve hours of 4-H activity per year. 4-H members are enrolled in either a 4-H Club, Special Interest Group, School Enrichment Class, or must be a Member At-Large to be eligible for competition for a scholarship. Scholarship money premiums may be altered at any time due to funding situations and budget constraints.
  2. All 4-H project books are due at the end of January each year. The specific date may change from year to year. Projects will be judged in the following age divisions: 9-10, 11-12, 13-15 and 16-19. All Project Records will be judged using the district judging score sheet and standards. Project records will receive a blue, red or white award based on individual merit of the record. A blue record should meet a minimum of 90% of the judging standards, a red record should meet a minimum of 80% of the judging standards and a white record should meet a minimum of 70% of the judging standards. The county best in each age group, per category, will be forwarded to the district competition. These winners will be declared the county champion in those categories.
  3. Beginning in the 2018 program year Lee County 4-H adopted the state 4-H Achievement guidelines to award our members for club and project work completed throughout the year. This plan encourages members to participate at age appropriate levels. Members are not required to use the plan but are rewarded with Scholarship money when they meet plan level goals. This money can be redeemed during the year to help offset 4-H project costs. The scholarship amounts received each year and the amount of money awarded may vary from year to year at the 4-H Agent’s discretion based on available funding.
  4. The award year runs from January 1 to December 31 of the following year. No scholarship will be carried over from one year to the next. Scholarships must be used in the same year awarded. Scholarship requests must be submitted by December 15th of the program year.
  5. The scholarship recipient can use their money towards any 4-H related activity deemed appropriate by the agent. Receipts must be presented along with the request using a scholarship request form that can be obtained from your club leader or from the Extension Office. ***NEW Google form version***
  6. No cash scholarships will be awarded. Scholarships are non-transferable from youth to youth. It is acceptable however, if the youth requests for the check to be made out to their parent or club leader to cover 4-H expenses. A recipient cannot give their scholarship to another 4-H member. If a child does not want to use their scholarship, then the money will remain in the 4-H account for other 4-H related funding needs.
  7. All requests for monies from the 4-H fund must originate with the 4-H Agent. Any additions to the awards requirements will depend on availability of funds and be at the discretion of the 4-H Agent.
  8. (Club name here) Club Member of the Year: The Club Member of the Year is a recognition program available to all enrolled 4-H members; and awards club members for outstanding club participation. Each club will have one Club Member of the Year. This member is fully engaged in the club and meets all club membership requirements. Individual clubs have a great deal of flexibility in how they choose the Club Member of the Year, so specific activities and experiences may vary. This award may not be given to the same member in consecutive years. This member will receive a $25 scholarship credit in their 4-H account.
  9. Lee County 4-H Junior Club Member of the Year:  Lee County 4-H’ers ages 9-12 may compete to be the Junior 4-H Member of the Year, applications are available from the 4-H Agent and are due in January of each year (exact date in January varies from year to year).
