Auxin Stewardship Training

— Written By

Individuals wishing to use Engenia, FeXapan, and XtendiMax on auxin tolerant crops should be aware that recent federal pesticide labels now classify these products as Restricted Use Pesticides. As such, only licensed applicators may purchase or use these products. Additional changes mandate that all applicators or those making application of these products under the supervision of licensed management must attend an auxin-specific training in 2018. Individuals completing the training will be issued a certificate which must be presented to the dealer before purchasing those products. In addition, some changes in recording application information, review process to determine nearby sensitive crops and other precautions to avoid potential adverse impact of these products have been implemented.

North Carolina State University and NC Cooperative Extension in cooperation with the North Carolina Department of Agriculture & Consumer Services will offer classes from January through March to accommodate individuals wishing to obtain certification to use these products. Pesticide credits for N, O, D & X will also apply. Individuals should plan to attend a convenient training session. Note that no training is scheduled beyond March 12, 2108. Scheduled classes, times and other information is found below.
