NC Farm School Down East

The NC Down East Farm School will provide classroom instruction, local farm tours and personal consultations for individuals seeking to develop a viable agricultural enterprise or expand an existing one into a new market. The goal of this effort is to ensure those with existing resources have a viable business plan for success. This eight week course will focus on different areas of management including finance, risk management, budgeting, production and marketing strategies taught by NCSU faculty, Extension Agents, and local farmers. The class will also include four touring dates to examine the diversity of existing farming enterprises within Eastern NC and reinforce classroom instruction. Applications for enrollment into this fee-based program are due December 18,2017. Cost of the program is $399 per person or $599 per pair.

NC Cooperative Extension will provide two opportunities to review more details of this course. The first informational meeting will be held on December 5, 2017 beginning at 6 PM at the Craven County Agricultural Building, 300 Industrial Drive, New Bern, NC. The second meeting will be held at Pitt County Extension, 403 Government Circle, Greenville, NC on December 6, 2017 beginning at 6 PM.
